Gyeongnam Jinju Special Economic Zone Support Center (Center Director Moon Yong-ho, Professor of Aerospace and Software Engineering at Gyeongsang National University) announced that it has selected ANHStructure, JD, and BJ Silk as excellent companies for the '2022 Jinju Special Economic Zone Regional Specialization Fostering Project'.

ANHstructure Co. Ltd. was selected to carry out the project 'Development of Cargo PDU Roller Repair Technology for Aircraft' in cooperation with the Korea Aerospace Industries Association. Through the successful execution of the project, the company secured and localized its own repair technology for aircraft parts (Cargo PDU Roller), creating 35 new jobs, KRW 11.4 billion in sales (up 11% from '21), and economic results such as reducing repair costs for domestic operators. In particular, the acquisition of the 'Production Organization Authorization (POA)' from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the first in Korea, which enables both design and production of civil aircraft parts, attracts attention. As a promising company designated as a star company in the Gyeongnam region in 2022, continuous growth is expected.

JD Co.,Ltd. carried out the task of 'Developing a prototype floating station capable of wirelessly charging drones' and generated economic results such as 11 new jobs and KRW 8.8 billion in sales (20% increase from 2020), and secured four new customers such as Lian. The company plans to advance its technology by using carbon fiber composite materials that are durable and lightweight.

In addition, the Jinju Special Economic Zone has focused on Jinju's traditional silk industry by expanding R&D in specialized fields (aerospace composites). To overcome the limitations of shrinking markets and labor-intensive industries, the zone has supported the transition to high-tech materials.

A representative beneficiary is VJ Silk. The company worked with Korea Silk Research Institute on the project 'Development of domestic materials for economy-class seat covers for flame-retardant functional/sensitive civil aircraft based on natural/recycled synthetic composite materials'. Through this, the company hired three new employees and achieved KRW 40.5 billion in sales, growing 63% in sales compared to 2020 and increasing production by more than 30% compared to 21. An official from the special zone said, "Due to the increasing demand for cabin interiors and the need for high functionalization, it is expected to realize localization in the interior interior materials market and transform into a high-tech industry."

Meanwhile, the Gyeongnam Jinju Special Economic Zone Support Center has formed a cluster in the aviation aviation materials and parts industry and is contributing to the development of the West Gyeongnam aviation industry and manufacturing industry. The number of companies in the aviation and aerospace materials and components sector increased from 28 companies, KRW 10.6 billion in sales, 128 employees, and KRW 3.2 billion in investment before the designation of the Jinju Special Economic Zone to 56 companies, KRW 19.2 billion in sales, 120 employees, and KRW 12.5 billion in investment after the designation in August 2019.
