Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency announced on the 1st that five companies were finally selected for the 2023 Key Industry 3D Printing Technology Convergence Demonstration Support Project organized by Ulsan City.

The project, which supports the production, demonstration, and delivery of new high-value-added products through 3D printing technology convergence in the stagnant Ulsan area's flagship industry, is a joint consortium of 3D printing companies and demand companies to increase the likelihood of commercialization success.

Ulsan Settlement Center selected three tasks in the automotive sector, which is the main industry in the region, including the production of automobile parts using large-scale and high-speed metal additive manufacturing technology, and two tasks in the shipbuilding sector, including the production of air tanks for ships using metal wire 3D printing technology.

Link Solution (Daesan Model), AM Solutions (Hyundai Heavy Industries), MP Works (Dongshin Industries), Jun Engineering (J.D.), and K-Labs (Webasto Korea Holdings) were selected as the 3D printing companies to carry out these five tasks.

The final selected 3D printing companies will be supported with 40 million won to produce prototypes to demonstrate to demand companies, and the 3D printing prototypes will be finalized and delivered to demand companies by October this year.

In order to maximize 3D printing performance, Ulsan Settlement Center plans to discover and match various demand companies in addition to the demand companies in the consortium so that 3D printing companies can grow.

"The use of 3D printing technology is expanding in manufacturing sites and actual products in Ulsan's main industries," said Koo Ja-rok, head of Ulsan Settlement Center. "Through this project, we will do our best to lay the foundation for the continuous development and expansion of commercialization of 3D printing technology."
